[XeTeX] :letterspace oddities

As far as #1 is concerned, it might be useful to create a document
containing just +++ with pdfcompresslevel set to 0 and see what is in
the PDF file. With this compress level the PDF should be readable in a
text editor. It will, of course, contain the embedded font and a few
dictionaries but even without interpreting them you should be able to
find the place with +++.
