[XeTeX] quotes, why this? (sorry if this is a duplicate)

It looks like the .dfont version of Times that Apple ships in
/System/Library/Fonts/ does not support the Smart Quotes feature.
If you have a Times suitcase from an older version of the OS, such as
Mac OS 9, you could try putting that into ~/Library/Fonts/, where I
believe it will take precedence, and see what happens. When I put my
Times suitcase (labeled v.3.5) from OS 9.2.1 in there, I get working
Smart Quotes.
This illustrates the need for an interface that lets you find out
exactly what features and settings are supported by a given font. Also,
XeTeX currently just ignores requests for features that don't exist; I
need to make it generate a warning message in that situation.
